No matter if you prefer snorkeling, scuba diving, or even body surfing, the US Divers Sea Lion Fins are perfect for any recreational water-based activity.
Ultra Buoyant Rubber
The Sea Lions were designed to be extra buoyant. Their rubber construction makes them durable and sturdy, all the while remaining lightweight. The material is firm, yet soft on the skin to avoid irritating chafing. Itâ™s important that recreational fins are buoyant because it ensures that they will rise to the surface if they are ever accidentally kicked off.
Stiff Blades for Power
While the rubber material of the Sea Lion fins is quite supple, itâ™s stiff enough to displace a great deal of water with minimal effort. This means that you can get the most out of your kick without overtiring yourself during your dive or body surfing session. The stiff blades produce more power behind each and every kick, while the ergonomic foot pockets take strain off the foot and ankle while swimming. Because the fins rely on the stiff blades for power, US Divers was able to make the recreational fin more compact than other similar models, making them a great take-along fin. Throw your pair into a durable equipment bag and take them along with you on your next snorkeling adventure. Try the Tusa Reef Tourer Snorkel Equipment Bag, which will hold and protect all your precious diving gear. Or pick up the Speedo Mesh Equipment Bag. Its mesh design helps to quickly air dry wet items.
Closed Heel Foot Pocket Design
Unlike other, lower quality recreational fins, the Sea Lions do not come with an adjustable, open heel strap. While this might sound like a disadvantage at first, youâ™ll quickly see that properly fitting, closed heel snorkel fins are much more effective than cheaper adjustable models. Having a fin that pockets your foot fully and fits in all the right places to prevent slippage can mean the difference between snorkeling and diving with ease and stopping to constantly adjust the fit of a fin. And, because the US Divers snorkeling fin comes in such a wide range of size choices (see chart below), thereâ™s no excuse to not have the perfect fit for each and every dive. If youâ™re already familiar with other recreational snorkeling fins, such as the Tusa RF14 Reef Tourer Fins, then you know how great the soft, durable and powerfully small design can be.
The Sea Lion Fins are available in two-tone yellow and blue. Because the heel fully pockets the foot, there is no adjustable strap to help fit these fins. Fortunately, US Divers provides its customers with a very wide range of size options. They are as follows:
|Jr Small||9 - 12||27 - 29|
|Jr Medium||12 - 1||30 - 33|
|Jr Large||1 - 3||34 - 35|
|Extra Small||3 - 5||4.5 - 6.5||36 - 37|
|Small||5 - 7||6.5 - 8.5||38 - 39|
|Medium||7 - 8||8.5 - 9.5||40 - 41|
|Medium Large||8 - 10||9.5 - 11.5||42 - 43|
|Large||10 - 11||11.5 - 12.5||44 - 45|
|Extra Large||11 - 13||12.5 - 14.5||46 - 47|
|2X-Large||14 - 16||48 - 49|
The AquaGear Opinion
For a true test of performance, the AquaGear Team took these fins on a snorkeling trip to the Florida Keys. We found that these fins run as sized and are more comfortable the longer you wear them. Because the Sea Lions are made of rubber, they will break in to the individual's foot over time. The full foot pocket design was also a big hit as the fins stayed securely in place throughout the dive.
The Bottom Line
The US Diver Sea Lion Fins are a top-notch, durable recreational fin choice. See how far they can take you on your next outdoor water adventure!
