The new TYR Ultralite Snorkel 2.0 is ultra-simple and ultra-durable - perfect for serious swimmers who need focused body alignment training.
This center-mount snorkel, designed by the specialists at TYR, features super lightweight construction (just over 6 oz) for a barely-there feel that won't disrupt your streamline. The slim, hydrodynamic tube cuts through the water easily, providing improved stability. The simple headstrap comes standard with quick-release buttons for hassle-free adjustments and the one-way purge valve simplifies clearing while promoting easy breathing. Ultralite 2.0 comes complete with a moderate and an advanced cardio cap for swimmers seeking improved lung capacity.
Durable Silicone Construction
Ultralite 2.0's Durafit™ silicone padding takes pressure off your head and maintains its shape over time for an always-comfortable fit. The head-piece slides along the tube for precise, custom positioning. Like the head-piece, the snorkel's mouthpiece is also made from hypoallergenic silicone that can be removed for easy cleaning.

Very good snorkel
Written by Viola Rowland on March 14th
This snorkel was purchased for my teenage son as a birthday present. He is a competition swimmer and has been for five years. He uses the snorkel in practice, three times a week for the past month.
The TYR Ultralite Snorkel 2.0 is light weight, comfortable, and effective. My son uses it for two separate reasons; first, to isolate other parts of his swimming without timing his breathing/turning the head; second, to increase lung capacity.
For isolating, this is a good tool to use when swimming freestyle. The head needs to be positioned on or very near the surface of the water with eyes/forehead pointing about 45-60 degrees in front. He tried using it when swimming breaststroke but would get a wave over his snorkel with every glide. Maybe he could alter his technique, but for now he will only use this for freestyle training.
For increasing lung capacity, this is a great tool. To begin with, my son has pretty good lung capacity. He is capable of swimming underwater on one breath of air almost 100 yards. The snorkel comes with two extra attachments for restricting air flow. You can use one or the other, or neither. He uses the blue one and can perceive that it is difficult yet functional. He tried the green one but could not get 25 yards with it on his snorkel. So, there is room for improvement.
There is probably another use for this snorkel that I can see, for inducing hypoxic training for endurance swimmers at sea-level. To me, that is a separate area of training than increasing volume of air in the lungs. My son is not using the TYR Ultralite Snorkel 2.0 for IHT; one should probably seek the advice of a professional in the area of sports physiology or a good coach before attempting that.
Finally, it seems that this snorkel is well-made. If it's rinsed after every use and the interior is washed out regularly, it should last a long time.
In summary, this is a great training tool when used properly and will be useful for a long time.
