Designed for a serious triathlete's needs, the Speedo Triclops Transition Backpack safely stores and transports all the gear you could possibly need to perform at your peak on race day: running shoes, wetsuit, chain lube, replacement tubes, goggles, nutrition, helmet. With 50L of volume, the Speedo Triclops can take it all.
Unfolds Into a Transition Station
Mimicking the three legs of a triathlon, the TriClops backpack features a three-headed zipper system that makes your gear efficiently accessible from any angle, at all times. In fact, the pack unzips completely and unfolds flat to serve as an organized relay station that can be used at transition areas to help keep you on pace. The Triclops can easily hold all your swim gear, including suit, goggles, and cap; all your cycling paraphernalia, like shoes, gloves, and even helmet; and also has dedicated storage for running gear, such as your runners, hat, and sunblock. To keep hydrated throughout your event, the bag comes equipped with a built-in pocket for a hydration pack and has dedicated hydration ports that can be used on either side of the backpack.
Organized: So You Don't Have to Be
To keep all your equipment neatly organized, the Tri-Clops is choc-full of internal pockets for small items (and god knows it's a nightmare trying to fish out your chap stick). The dedicated shoe pockets holds your cycling and running footwear when not in use. The expandable zip out drainage pocket stores and air-dries your wetsuit after your swim. Speedo's Dirt Bag™ helps keep your dirty, wet clothes separated from your dry, clean gear. Another neat feature: the top pocket is lined with fleece in order to keep your sunglasses and goggles scratch-free.
Not only is the Speedo Tri-Clops Transition Backpack useful, but it's also comfortable to wear. It was designed with ergonomic 3D molded shoulder straps and a molded back panel for improved air flow. The fabric portions that touch the skin are padded for comfort and perforated for ventilation to keep you comfortable and cool. The backpack also features reflective piping that maintains visibility even in low light environments. The bag measures about 27" tall and 17" wide, when empty. Though quite long, the bag fits slimly against the back without impeding arm movement along the sides.
The AquaGear Opinion
Getting through the transition from swim to run and from run to bike is an absolute hellscape for athletes without a plan of action and a trusty gear bag. Finding your tri-glide among 14 other various tubes in the bottom of your bag as you watch the seconds tick away is a real-life, eyes-open nightmare. Luckily, our testers found the Speedo Triclops to be simple to use and easy to access (once you learn which zippers do what). The only downside is that this bag is a hefty one, at 27" tall, and may be too long for shorter athletes. Need more info? Check out this review by triathlete, foodie, and friend, Kelly Janowski.
