Unique Design
Unlike traditionally shaped fins that work against the breaststrokeâ™s unique frog-like kick, the highly developed Speedo Breaststroke fins greatly accelerate the whip kick teaching and learning process. Rather than taking on the appearance of a traditional fin, which usually features dense rubber-like material that extends outward from the toe, the Breaststroke Fin is angled along the outside edge of the foot. Its offset surface provides increased resistance and optimal shape retention. The thrust the fins provide is similar to that of the power that traditional fins provide for the flutter kick. While the Speedo Breaststroke Fins might be one of the few specifically designed to work with the stroke, there are other, uniquely shaped swim fins that can also help develop the whip kick. Both the Aqua Sphere Alpha Fins and the Finis Positive Drive Fins are contoured to work with the breaststroke.
Reinforces Proper Kick Technique
The Speedo Breaststroke Finâ™s perpendicular blade, which curves downward from the side of the fin, provides natural extension to the swimmerâ™s kick. This not only allows for increased power, but also ensures that the swimmerâ™s feet are properly positioned. The curve puts the wearer's foot into the proper frog kick position and helps to emphasize the swimmerâ™s feel for the foot and ankle positioning throughout the entire sequence of the kick. And the Breaststroke Finâ™s articulated web design allows superior control of the blade. Its patented design makes this unique swim fin a great teaching tool for both beginners and advanced swimmers alike.
Additional Information
These unique swim fins are made from flexible, durable TPR material. The strong composition allows the finsâ™ structural cup superior control over the blade, while their pliable material slowly warms and shapes to the foot while in use. The finsâ™ heel straps allow for variable position and increased overall comfort. The open heel foot pocket also helps swimmers achieve a natural feel while in the water. The fin is available in 5, color-coded sizes. Ranging from XXS to XL - there is a size for every swimmer. The TPR material stays most pliable when properly dried after every session in the pool. Throw your Breaststroke Fins, as well as any other wet swim gear, into the Speedo Mesh Equipment Bag. Its mesh design will help dry all your training devices on the go.
The AquaGear Opinion
Those AquaGear testers partial to the breaststroke were excited to try out these new fins. Swimmers liked that the finsâ™ design helped keep the feet underwater, which can be a challenge for newer whip kick swimmers. They give a good deal of forward propulsion, while working on kick technique. Testers thought that they would be ideal for both beginner swim lessons and for competitive training sessions. If the foot, ankle or leg positioning was off a bit, the fins would awkwardly catch the water and immediately let swimmers know of their err. Swimmers also noted that the Breaststroke Finsâ™ material was durable, rugged, lightweight and quick to dry.
The Bottom Line
If the breaststroke is your stroke of choice, or youâ™re just looking for a way to work on the whip kick, then pick up a pair of Speedo Breaststroke fins today.
