New for 2017, the Iso Paddles by Finis are designed to improve stroke mechanics by enhancing a swimmer's feel for proper hand positioning.
Iso Means Isolation
By generating an imbalance during the catch , these strapless swim paddles develop a swimmer's feel for the water. Iso paddle's unique construction requires users to alter the amount of pressure applied in one side of the paddle (or the other) to maintain stroke efficiency.
Use inside isolation (yellow on left hand, gray on right) positioning to target pecs, delts, and biceps. Inside isolation is ideal for breaststroke and butterfly practice. Use outside isolation (yellow on right hand, gray on left) to engage traps and triceps for backstroke and freestyle drills.
|Paddle Size||Hand Vertical Length||Paddle Vertical Length|
|Small||7 Inches||6.5 Inches|
|Medium||7-8 Inches||7.25 Inches|
Prefer something simpler? Finis Agility Paddles are also recommended for all four competitive strokes, but utilize a less complex design. If you're only swimming freestyle, a pair of Finis Freestyler Paddles will do the trick.
Fun Fact: Iso paddles were devised in 2014 as a result of conversations with Nort Thornton, former coach of the UC Berkeley Men's and Women's swim teams. The prototype was created in 2014 from Play-Doh and was designed to mimic ping-pong drills that inform correct hand positioning.
