Burdenko Water Walkers

Formerly known as the Burdenko Water Walkers, these 'winged water walkers' are like few other products in the aquatic exercise market. Though the original design featured flexible panels, the latest model's side panels are firmly attached for increased resistance. The unique resistance footwear can help increase lean muscle tissue, cardio endurance, and caloric consumption.

High Intensity Workout

The Burdenko Water Walkers can help you achieve a high intensity workout while in the pool. They are proven to burn more calories, build long, lean muscles throughout the legs, and strengthen core muscles better than any comparable product. While the Water Walkers do produce a heart-pumping workout, they were designed to be used at any skill level. Users have the chance to take advantage of the buoyant and soothing effects of the water while wearing the devices. This means that they are ideal for high level athletes, baby-boomers, the elderly and even those rehabilitating leg or joint problems. The Water Walkers produce an effect similar to other lower body resistive devices. Alternatively, the Hydro-Tone Mini Fins provide a good deal of intensity to the upper and lower leg muscles, but do so laterally, rather than vertically, thus targeting different muscle groups. Their buoyancy-neutral design allows them to be easily used in deeper water. And if you're looking for a lower body resistance workout, but want a little less of a challenge, then you might be better suited to some other types of training devices. The All Pro Ankle Weights strap around the ankle and provide up to 2.5lbs of adjustable weight per leg.

How They Work

The Burdenko Water Walkers are able to provide such a solid workout thanks to their unique, wide foot design. All you have to do to start working with the Water Walkers is to strap them on and start 'walking' through deep water. Use them in conjunction with a buoyant jog belt to help keep your upper body afloat and stabilized. The paddles that strap to the feet widen the surface area of the foot and therefore apply additional resistance with every step. Because the side panels do not flex, a greater amount of resistance is harnessed. The more water they catch, the more your leg muscles must engage to slice through the water.

Additional Specs

The Burdenko Water Walkers are available in a one-size-fits-all option. The lower body resistance training devices strap onto the feet with adjustable tubing. The training gear is available in black and yellow plastic construction only.

The AquaGear Opinion

The AquaGear testers were in for a real (fun!) challenge when they strapped on a pair of Burdenko Water Walkers. The testers thought that the devices were great at toning leg muscles. In just a matter of minutes, even the most in shape testers began to feel a good burn in their hamstrings, glutes and thighs. And although the product made it difficult to move through the water âˆ' which is the whole idea! âˆ' the AquaGear testers found the Water Walkers extremely easy to strap on and get to work.

The Bottom Line

Try out a pair of Burdenko Water Walkers today and you're sure to love their ability to raise your current cardio workout to new, fat burning levels.

Arthritis sufferer
Written by on September 11th

I have severe arthritis in both my knees to the point I can barely walk down the stairs. But if I water walk every day for a half an hour in the pool the pain disappears and I don't need meds that made my stomach bleed. On rainy days I'm pretty much crippled -but since I live in Miami Beach that doesn't happen very often. So if you live in a warm climate and have access to a pool or the ocean- Water walkers are the best things since sliced bread.( Ps. I also went from a size 16 to a 12 in one year and have kept it of.
