Designed to line the delicate contours on the inner ear, the Speedo Ergo Ear Plugs provide an optimal watertight fit.
The Ergo Ear Plugs form-fitting, bowl-shaped design creates (and maintains) a waterproof seal for users with recurring ear infections (or those who just plain hate water in the ears). Because they are shaped with an eye to anatomical correctness, the Ergo's minimize water leakage into the canal better than moldable putty plug designs. And, unlike other standard earplugs, these Speedo plugs are pre-molded into opposing shapes, making them more suitable to fit the curvature of the left and right ears, respectively. Although they're not specifically designated for left and right, Speedo recommends trying both in each ear to determine the proper orientation for your unique ear canal shapes. Alternatively, the AquaBlock Ear Plugs by Mack’s feature a flanged design for a more customized fit. The Ear Plugs by Doc's are also designed to fit the ear canal naturally. These, however, are left- and right-ear specific for a better, more secure wear.
Lightweight and Soft
The Speedo product’s lightweight, PVC-free composition will have you forgetting that you’re even wearing the earplugs. Their design makes them extremely easy to insert and remove. The Ergo Ear Plugs, available in silver only, come with a portable storage case that allows them taken along with you no matter where you choose to swim. The reusable plugs can be used time and time again, and the high quality TPR material ensures that they always remain soft and pliable.
Ultimate Ear Protection
Swimmer’s ear is a prevalent infection that occurs frequently in those people that spend time exercising, swimming, or diving in the water. The annoying condition occurs when water gets trapped in the canal and creates a moist environment ideal for bacterial growth. The Speedo Ergo Ear Plugs help reduce the chance of swimmer’s ear infections by forming a watertight barrier for your ears. Their form fitting design gives you a fighting chance to avoid ear canal problems all together.
If you have had serious ear infections in the past or are prone to swimmer’s ear because of ear tubes, there are a few other products that can be paired with the Ergo Ear Plugs to ensure a 100% waterproof fit. The Aqua Earband, which wraps around the heads and offers watertight ear protection, is comfortable to wear with the plugs. And once out of the water, be sure to dry your ears thoroughly with the help of a quick drying ear solution. Both Mack’s Dry-n-Clear Ear Drying Aid and Dresnick Healthcare Swimmer’s Ear Drying Solution help relive the discomfort of water-clogged ears and can help prevent and treat ear infections.
The AquaGear Opinion
Swimmer’s ear can be a common occurrence around the AquaGear test pool, so the swimmers were ready to try something new to help stave off the infection. First, the testers fit the plugs to their ears. For best fitting results, pinch the plugs between your fingers. Open the ear canal with you opposite hand by reaching over and pulling up on the top of the ear. With the plug still pinched, place it in the ear and turn slightly to seal. Even with all this, the earplugs were noted for their simple, easy fit. And their double-flange not only ensured that water stayed out, but they also helped to keep the plugs properly situated within the ear.
The Bottom Line
Stop Swimmer’s Ear infections before they even have a chance to start. Pick up a pair of the Speedo Ergo Ear Plugs today and see how comfortable and watertight your next swim can truly be.
