The Finis Freestyler Hand Paddles are swim paddle designed specifically to train and improve the technique of the freestyle stroke, and are not designed for resistance and strength training.
Designed for Freestyle Armstroke Improvement
These hand paddles were designed specifically for the freestyle stroke. Their unique shape and design allows swimmers to improve the more technical aspects of their freestyle stroke during daily training; these elements include high elbows, maximum extension, proper hand position and entry. These key technical elements will be a natural and instant result of using the Freestyler Hand Paddles, and the reason why these paddles won the About.com Reader's Choice Best Hand Paddles.
The Freestyler Hand Paddles patented skeg design uses the same principles of a surfboard. The skeg improves directional stability and adjusts the alignment of your hands and arms naturally throughout the stroke; it channels the hand forward for maximum extension of every stroke, emphasizing proper hand entry.
Early Catch; Arm Extension
The rear edge of the paddle is designed to wrap around the wrist and encourage you to catch the water early, while the tapered nose allows you to spear the water and extend your stroke.
The Freestyler is intended as a training aid to improve freestyle technique and efficiency. Not only does it increase distance-per-stroke and reach, but also provides instant stroke feedback—the paddle will rotate and straighten itself if your hand entry is incorrect. The paddles also prevent hand entry cross-over, a known cause of shoulder injury.
Promotes Balance and Streamlined Position
Using the Freestyler Hand Paddle over time can create a more balanced body position and reduce drag, as well as promoting a stronger pull through, better hip-rotation and increased efficiency. This all adds up to shaving a couple seconds off your freestyle lap times.
The Freestyler Hand Paddles are narrower than most paddles, reducing shoulder stress caused during stroke correction.
An adjustable finger strap ensures a perfect fit.
The Finis Freestyler Hand Paddles are sold in pairs, and available in yellow only.

Intensify your upper body workout as you perfect your freestyle stroke by using your Freestyler Hand Paddles in conjunction with the Water Gear Soft Pull Buoy.
The Finis Freestyler Paddle is also available as the Finis Freestyler Jr for aspiring junior swim champions or anyone with smaller hands. You might also consider the Finis Fulcrum Swim Paddles, which allow you to safely push harder when swimming.
The AquaGear Opinion
The Finis Freestyler Paddle “straps” are just one strap, and It hooks over just the middle finger, rather than the entire hand. These are less comfortable than the Finis agility paddles, but offer more displacement and therefore more resistance. The “skeg” stabilizes your hand in the water, and certainly promotes a greater extension of the arm and torso into the stroke. When all is done correctly, your hand nearly glides through the water.
The Bottom Line
The freestyle stroke is a technically advanced stroke that takes tons of practice to refine and perfect. Having the Finis Freestyler Swim Paddles is like having two tiny personal coaches giving you feedback throughout every stroke. Grab a pair of Freestyler Swim Paddles right here at AquaGear.com!
