One-piece, Flexible Frame
Rather than utilizing a solid, plastic frame, Barracuda Triton Goggles rely on an exclusive rubber wire frame to help conform to the unique lines of your face. The embedded rubber allows the goggle to flex and bend easily, resulting in a comfortable, customized fit each and every swim. Because of their anatomical correctness, the Triton creates a solid, watertight seal without the need for excessive suction. This results in comfortable, long-lasting wear. In order to keep the Triton Goggles' unique rubber wire frame in good shape be sure to safely store them in the hard-sided, durable Barracuda Goggle Case.
Panoramic, Fog-Free Vision
The Triton Goggles contoured fit isn't just for comfort's sake. The Barracuda goggle's flexible materials also allow them to provide swimmers with an ultra wide panoramic view. The curved lenses encourage swimmers to use their peripheral vision in underwater surrounds, but also helps them feel more comfortable in any indoor or open water environment. To keep that ultra-wide field of view in tact, Barracuda has equipped the Tritons with an always-standard anti-fog treatment. This coating will help keep your vision as clear as possible for hours on end. But, to extend this great coverage, try a few drops of Barracuda's own Defogger Solution which is great for goggles, masks, glasses or any other fog-prone eyewear.
The Barracuda Triton's come standard with adjustable, chlorine-resistant, snag-free silicon straps. Simply depress the button on the side of the goggles for single-handed tightening and loosening. The solid head straps keep the goggle in place in rough waters – making it ideal for triathletes and open water swimmers. Between the Triton's form fitting frame and adjustable straps, you'll never have to worry about these goggles slipping during rough starts, turns and finishes. Unlike other goggles that come with a variety of interchangeable nose pieces, the Triton has a static nose bridge. But, like the goggles' frame, the piece is made from flexible rubber wire and adjusts to the width of the nose automatically.
The Barracuda Triton Goggles are available in a few lens color options. An amber lens will help increase contrast in low-lit waters and reduce glare in bright outdoor conditions. The blue lens option not only looks great, but won't distort colors and are great for more versatile conditions. The clear lens option is best suited for darker conditions, such as indoor pools or overcast days.
The AquaGear® Opinion
The Barracuda Triton Goggles scored high on their ability to create a leakproof seal without feeling too tight on the face. The wire rubber frame lived up to its reputation and adapted to most face shapes and sizes, which allowed for an easy, adjustment-free fit. Testers also thought these goggles, especially with the various lens options, would be great for both indoor and outdoor use. Because of their wide field of view and comfortable wear, triathletes may prefer this pair to a more traditional competition goggle. They help keep the eye area comfortable during extended training sessions and marathon distances. The only downside: there is no adjustment potential in the nose bridge.
The Bottom Line
If you're in the market for a comfortable pair of goggles that will supply you with a truly tailored feel, then the Barracuda Triton Goggles are perfect for you!
